General Information
Where do I access the application?
The application link can be found in the Artist Application tab. However, we highly recommend reading through the information on this page before applying. You will be held responsible for reading this information and following all rules of Jaycon and of the Artist Alley.
How are the applications being considered for the Artist Alley?
ARTIST APPLICATIONS ARE NO LONGER FIRST COME FIRST SERVED. Applications will be decided on a juried basis. This change in application process is meant to create a diverse and well-rounded Artist Alley. We do not base decisions on previous affiliations with Jaycon or Staff. Because of the size of Jaycon, we are striving to create a better Artist Alley through a variety of consumer goods.
What should be included in my application?
To help in the juried process, we ask that you include an example(s) of your art, a link to your website or a detailed description of the products you plan to sell.
When can I expect to hear back from Jaycon about my application?
You can expect an email from us a few weeks after the deadline. Artists who have been selected will have a specific time-frame to pay their fee. If they fail to make the payment, that space will be given to an artist on the Waitlist.
Do I have to register as an attendee for Jaycon before applying?
YES. Artists must be confirmed attendees before applying for an artist space. This is very important; if we do not have you in our system as a confirmed attendee, your artist application will be severely delayed. Due to Jaycon policy, attendee registration fees are not required to be paid online, they can be paid at the Registration Table at the convention. Therefore, you will not be losing money if you do not get a table and do not wish to attend otherwise.
What kind of tables does Jaycon offer?
We are offering two different options for artist tables this year. The first option is a full 6' table. The second option is a full 8' table. The tables are 2.5’ wide. All tables are provided with two chairs each. Additional chairs are available on a very limited basis.
Can I purchase more than one table?
Of course! The maximum number of tables you can purchase is two due to the setup of the Artist Alley.
How much does it cost?
Why are the prices higher than in previous years?
In previous years, artists who came to our Artist's Alley were required to pay the table fee and were then also required to pay a fee for the badge. These fees previously have been separated. The fee for the badge and table is now combined to cut down on the hassle to our artists when they show up at the door for Jaycon.
How do I pay Jaycon for my table?
This fee is nonrefundable and will be paid through a website set up through the College. A Paypal account or credit card will be required. You will not be required to pay until you are confirmed as an artist.
Can I bring an assistant with me?
Yes! In addition to the applying Artist, you may have up to two assistants. Each assistant is required to pre-register as an attendee. Artists and assistants will all receive special Artist badges. The purchase of a table includes two badges total. An additional assistant badge can be purchased for an additional $15. Jaycon reserves the right to remove individuals from behind tables that do not have these badges.
When can I arrive and set up at Jaycon?
Artists can check-in and start setting up their tables on Friday night or early Saturday morning to check-in and set up their tables. Emails will be sent to confirm set up times closer to the date of the event.
What is the security on the Artist Alley?
The Artist Alley will be locked at night by Campus Security, so merchandise can be left in the room overnight. In the mornings, Campus Security unlocks the Artist Alley for Supers. During the convention, Con Staff will always be present to monitor the Artist Alley.
Can I hang things on the wall behind my table?
NO. Because of facility regulations, special approved tape must be used to tape things to the walls of any College building. If you have wall space and wish to display something, a Super Staffer must tape it up for you and take it down for you. Due to the set up of the Artist Alley and Dealers Room, many tables do not have an actual wall behind them.
Will there be electrical outlets available?
Upon request, an extension cord can be provided.
I can only attend one day of the convention. Can I still apply?
Yes, we would love for you to apply! Please include this information on your application. It will, however, be a factor in weighing applications for the Artist Alley.
Am I allowed to sell mature materials?
If you are selling merchandise that could be considered mature, it must be duly marked. Out of courtesy for our younger attendees, please keep it in a designated area and out of sight.
Can I play music from my table?
Music is not to be played from any one table in the Artist Alley without permission from a Super Staffer.
If you need clarification on anything mentioned above, or any other questions, please Contact Us.
